ST. LOUIS POLICE OFFICER CHARGED WITH MULTIPLE CRIMES FOLLOWING DOMESTIC INCIDENT
Terrence M. Ruffin, a police officer with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, has been charged with multiple offenses following a series of incidents involving the mother of his child. Prosecutors allege that Ruffin misused his position by accessing private information through the Regional Justice Information System, a law enforcement database, to run a background check on the woman’s guest.
In addition to the database misuse, authorities say Ruffin entered the woman’s home without permission while dressed in his police uniform and carrying his department-issued firearm. He now faces three counts of first-degree harassment, one count of misuse of official information by a public servant, one count of fourth-degree domestic assault, and one count of first-degree burglary.
At the time of the charges, Ruffin was in custody without bond. A spokesperson for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that Ruffin remained employed by the department pending the outcome of the investigation.
