19-year-old Javon Phillips has been arrested and charged after prosecutors say he and four others showed up to a crowded North County party armed with guns while allegedly attempting to kill his ex-girlfriend’s new partner.
According to the probable cause statement, Javon Phillips arrived at a party in the 11800 block of West Florissant Avenue on May 24, 2026. Hundreds of people were gathered in the parking lot at the time.
Police say Phillips’ ex-girlfriend was pregnant with her new partner’s child and expected to give birth soon. Phillips and the other suspects allegedly got out of their vehicles, spotted the man and began shooting at him while firing into the crowd.
The intended target escaped without being injured, but six other people were struck by gunfire. One victim was shot in the back, another in the forearm, one in the hand and another in the pinky finger. One victim was shot in the head and is now blind.
Investigators recovered 21 shell casings and surveillance footage from the scene.
Phillips is charged with six counts of first-degree assault involving serious physical injury or a special victim, one additional count of first-degree assault and seven counts of armed criminal action. He is being held on a $500,000 cash-only bond with no 10% allowed.
St. Louis County Police said the investigation remains active.
All charges are accusations. Phillips is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
