Andrew Bailey who served as Missouri’s attorney general has officially stepped into a new federal role as the FBI’s deputy director. This appointment positions Bailey as the second-in-command at the nation’s top investigative agency, where he will now be reporting directly to FBI Director Kash Patel.
Bailey’s decision to resign from his state post on September 8 shocked some but made clear he was preparing for a much broader stage. Now, as the bureau’s only deputy director, he’s taking on a larger leadership role overseeing daily operations, advising on national security, and shaping the strategic direction of one of the most powerful institutions in the country.
