St. Louis County Executive Sam Page just found out the hard way this case ain’t going away. A judge ruled on Friday that Page will indeed face a criminal trial in March. The court session went down in Springfield, Missouri, where Page’s legal team tried to shut the case down early. The judge wasn’t having it.
Page was indicted by a grand jury earlier this year for allegedly misusing taxpayer money to fund a flyer tied to a ballot measure. Prosecutors say he crossed the line by using public funds to sway voters, which is a no-go under Missouri law.
His lawyers pushed back, saying the language in the indictment was shaky. But the judge told the state they could fix the wording and keep it pushing which means Page is still on the hook.
