THIS MAY BE THE END TO 2 YEAR SAFETY AND ADMISSIONS

Missouri drivers could soon see big changes at the DMV. Lawmakers have advanced a bill that would allow drivers with newer vehicles to register their cars for five years at a time, instead of the one- or two-year renewals currently required.

The Missouri House voted 143–0 to pass HB 2189, which would apply to vehicles less than six years old. Under the proposal, the five-year tag would cost $45, compared to the current fees of $9 for one year or $18 for two years.

If this legislation becomes law, it may signal a major shift for drivers across the state and could potentially reduce the need for frequent safety and emissions checks.
