TRUMP MAY PRESS PLAY ON STRIKES AGAINST MEXICAN CARTELS

President Trump is signaling that the United States might move forward with military action targeting drug cartels in Mexico after years of sea operations against narcotics smuggling. In a recent interview he said U.S. forces would “start now hitting land” against cartels he claims are operating with impunity and fueling the drug crisis in America.

Trump’s remarks come as part of a broader push to expand anti‑cartel operations following recent U.S. military actions in Venezuela and continued pressure on trafficking networks. He has not outlined specific plans or timelines for strikes inside Mexico, and no formal orders have been announced, but this shift from maritime to land targets shows a significant escalation in his approach.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has strongly rejected the idea of any foreign military action on Mexican soil, saying such moves would violate her country’s sovereignty and emphasizing cooperation instead of unilateral force.
