We’re getting word that Value City Furniture locations are now in liquidation as part of the parent company’s bankruptcy process. The store brand carried by American Signature, Inc. filed for Chapter 11 protection last year and is now moving forward with a going‑out‑of‑business sale at dozens of its remaining stores nationwide.
Customers have been seeing liquidation and store closing sales, with major discounts on furniture and home goods as the company winds down operations.
This is a reminder of how tough the current economy has been on retail especially large furniture chains that rely on big inventory and showroom sales.
If you’ve shopped at Value City over the years, say a prayer for the employees affected and the small businesses that now face even more competition. We’ll keep an eye out for more updates on these closures.
