45-year-old Kyle Blair is now being charged with first-degree assault after authorities say he fired a shotgun at a 16-year-old Black teenager while shouting racial slurs.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office also charged Blair with unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of armed criminal action.
According to court documents, the teenager was outside his apartment building around 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 27 when Blair allegedly came outside, yelled racial slurs, then returned carrying a shotgun.
Prosecutors say Blair threatened to kill the teen before firing one shot in his direction.
The teenager ran to a nearby Phillips 66 for help. When he later returned with another person, authorities say Blair allegedly pointed the shotgun at both of them before fleeing.
Blair surrendered to police on Aug. 31 and is being held on a $150,000 cash-only bond.
