ADMINISTRATION HINTS WORKERS MAY NOT BE PAID AFTER GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN 🤦🏽‍♀️🥹

It’s not looking good for federal employees. Agencies have begun sending out vague messages to some staff members letting them know they will be paid when the government reopens but only if they were working during the shutdown. And the ones who weren’t? They’ve been left out of the conversation completely.

For those who were furloughed, there is growing concern. The language that once guaranteed back pay after a shutdown has now disappeared from recent notices. In the past, workers were reassured that once appropriations resumed, they’d receive payment for their time out. Now, the government isn’t making those same promises.

This shift is being seen by many as intentional. One updated notice read: “Once an appropriation or continuing resolution is enacted, excepted employees are entitled to receive payment.” Notice the word “excepted.” That’s code for: if you were furloughed, don’t hold your breath.

The government has been shut down since October 1. Both Democrats and Republicans remain in a bitter standoff over health care policy. Meanwhile, workers are being left in limbo. As the shutdown crossed the 30-day mark, agencies began sending out fresh messages but these versions left out key protections around back pay.

Let’s be real. People are already struggling. And now the same government workers who help keep this country running may not get paid at all. With food drives being held and public outcry growing, it’s clear the impact of this shutdown is far deeper than political posturing.
