First and foremost, we want to send our prayers and condolences to the family and friends of 17-year-old Alyssa Willson, whose life was cut short following a shooting on Interstate 170 Wednesday evening.
According to authorities, the shooting happened around 7:15 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-170, between St. Charles Rock Road and Midland Boulevard. Alyssa was transported to a nearby hospital, where she passed away.
According to her loved ones, Alyssa was a high school senior who had recently celebrated homecoming and purchased her very own car with money she worked hard to save.
She was also involved in ROTC and had plans to join the Army after graduation.
Her family describes her as a bright and loving young lady who had already overcome so much. She had her whole life ahead of her, and things were just starting to look up.
The Major Case Squad is investigating the shooting.
