23-year-old Cameron Willis was found suffering from a gunshot wound in the 7600 block of South Broadway in the Patch neighborhood early Monday morning. According to police, District 1 officers responded to the scene just after 1 a.m., where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators say a vehicle was also found crashed and on its side near the scene. Dozens of shell casings were recovered, pointing to a violent shootout.
Preliminary information suggests Willis may have been inside the vehicle before being ejected during the crash.
Police continue to investigate what led up to the shooting.
