We are saddened to provide this update. Family members have confirmed that the body discovered on Friday near Hall Street and Humboldt Avenue in North St. Louis has been identified as 42-year-old Latoya Smith.
Latoya was last seen on Saturday, December 27, in North St. Louis. Her disappearance followed a final phone call with her 14-year-old daughter, after which she was reported missing.
Her vehicle was recovered two days later in the Baden neighborhood, parked near Broadway and Switzer. It had been partially concealed with tree branches, and her cellphone was found inside the car.
The investigation remains ongoing.
