47-year-old Connie Bobo is losing a million-dollar home after being convicted of stealing $19.7 million that was supposed to help feed children. Deputy U.S. Marshals took custody of the Spring Mill Creek property Thursday as part of the federal forfeiture case.
Bobo was sentenced earlier this year to 16 years in federal prison. Prosecutors say while serving as executive director of New Heights Community Resource Center, she stole money from a state-administered after-school and summer meal program between 2019 and 2022.
And instead of that money going toward feeding kids, prosecutors say Bobo used it to purchase millions of dollars in real estate and a $200,000 vehicle for her partner.
The Spring Mill Creek home is valued at around $1.1 million. A forfeiture order also included two additional St. Charles County properties and a Mercedes-Benz G550 Wagon.
This whole case is nasty work. Lying saying you were feeding children while you were really feeding your own lifestyle. SMH.
Bobo is currently serving her sentence at a low-security federal prison in Minnesota and is scheduled for release in 2038.
