A minor traffic crash in Jennings reportedly turned into a violent confrontation that left a 63-year-old retired truck driver, Lance Jeffries, hospitalized.
According to reports, Jeffries rear-ended another vehicle and got out of his car to check on the occupants. Police and family members say several people from the other vehicle confronted him, and video circulating from the scene appears to show him being punched, kicked, dragged into the street and beaten while he was on the ground.
Jeffries’ family says he suffered serious injuries, including swelling around his eyes and jaw, neck injuries and blood clots that require medical treatment.
UPDATE: St. Louis County Police announced that four people have been taken into custody and are awaiting charges in connection with the attack.
This is a developing story. The investigation remains ongoing, and the legal process will determine what charges are ultimately filed.
🙏🏾 Prayers for Mr. Jeffries and his family as he continues to recover.
