Nearly nine months after reporting her boyfriend shot to death, a St. Louis woman has now been charged in his killing following new findings in the investigation.
According to prosecutors, the case dates back to July of last year when a woman called 911 and reported that she found her boyfriend dead and his truck stolen at a home in north St. Louis. At the time, police responded to the scene and began an investigation into the homicide.
Prosecutors said further investigation later revealed evidence that contradicted the original report. Authorities allege the woman abandoned the victim’s truck at a scrapyard shortly after the killing, prompting charges to be filed months later.
On Monday, prosecutors charged 51-year-old Geraldine Combs with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. She is also facing two counts of felony evidence tampering.
St. Louis police said officers responded to Combs’ 911 call on July 27 and found 52-year-old Christopher Lewis shot to death outside the upstairs bedroom of a home in the 4300 block of Randall Place.
The case remains under review as it moves through the court system.
