MAN CHARGED IN CENTRAL WEST END MURDER

27-year-old Jamaal Jones has been charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action, and tampering with evidence, according to St. Louis police.

Officers responded to a call around 1 a.m. Wednesday on the 4200 block of Olive Street, where the phone of a missing man had last pinged. When they arrived, they found 23-year-old Jardyn Walker dead with a gunshot wound to his torso.

Walker had been reported missing by family after he didn’t show up to ride home from work. He was last seen delivering packages in University City, and his vehicle was found at the scene.

Police say the case may be tied to an earlier shots-fired call. A car spotted leaving the area was stopped near Boyle and Lindell. Jones was arrested after officers saw weapons in the vehicle and reportedly found shell casings in his pocket. A witness also identified him as the shooter.

Earlier reports mistakenly stated that Walker suffered a puncture wound. It has since been confirmed that he was shot. We apologize for the error and send our condolences to his family.
