A woman and child are fighting for their lives after a heartbreaking act of violence in the Walnut Park West neighborhood. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the St. Louis City Fire Department responded to a house fire overnight into Sunday on the 5700 block of Floy Avenue.
Once the fire was put out, firefighters made a devastating discovery a woman and a young boy had both been shot inside the home. Shortly after, around 12:17 a.m., SLMPD was called to the scene to investigate the shooting.
Preliminary findings show that the woman and child were shot inside the house before the fire was set. Investigators believe the fire was intentionally started after the shooting.
