TWO SUSPECTS DEAD TWO OFFICERS INJURED AFTER POLICE PURSUIT ENDS IN DEADLY CRASH ON I-170

St. Louis County authorities are investigating a deadly crash that left two suspects dead, another injured, and two St. Louis Metropolitan Police officers hospitalized following a high-speed pursuit that ended in Richmond Heights.

Just before 2:30 p.m. on January 23, 2026, SLMPD officers in full uniform and a marked patrol car responded to assist in the apprehension of a vehicle tied to a criminal investigation out of the city. The suspect vehicle, occupied by three adult men, suddenly performed a U-turn and drove into oncoming traffic on the southbound flyover ramp from I-170 to eastbound I-64. The vehicle crashed directly into the officers’ patrol car.

Two suspects were pronounced dead at the scene. A third was rushed to the hospital with unknown injuries. The two officers involved sustained serious injuries and remain hospitalized. Their ages were reported as 33 and 38, with 7 and 12.5 years of service, respectively.

The St. Louis County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Bureau and Accident Reconstruction Unit are leading the investigation. Officials say the details are still developing and subject to change as the case unfolds.
