Last Sunday, William Palmer was fatally shot in the head after offering a ride to a woman who reportedly asked for help getting to a warming shelter, according to his family.
Police say Palmer was found shot near North 9th Street and Olive in downtown St. Louis just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Court records show that 36-year-old Brittany Rivoire has been charged in connection with the killing and faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder.
Family members say Palmer was known for helping others and often gave rides to people who needed one. He was a father and a great-grandfather, and his passing has left a deep void for those who loved him.
