It has been confirmed by multiple sources that the funeral service which came under gunfire at a Ferguson funeral home was held in honor of 19-year-old Steffon Marmon. Marmon was fatally shot on his birthday in the early morning hours of January 5 in the 2000 block of Switzer Avenue in Jennings.
According to the St. Louis County Police Department, officers from the City of Jennings Precinct responded to a call for service at approximately 2:27 a.m. Upon arrival, they located Marmon suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Marmon, believed to be a local rapper, may have been the target of an ongoing dispute. People close to the victim suspect the shooting may be connected to tensions with a rival rap group, though an official motive has not been confirmed. The situation remains under investigation.
