ST. LOUIS BAR OWNER SUES CITY AFTER HE WAS ASSAULTED BY A ST. LOUIS CITY POLICE OFFICER

Chad Morris, the co-owner of Bar:PM, a well-known gay bar in St. Louis, is now suing the city after a police officer allegedly beat him and tried to pin false charges on him.

It all started in December 2023 when a police cruiser crashed into his bar. Instead of taking responsibility, officers arrested Morris. He was charged with assault, but those charges didn’t hold. In late 2025, the case was dismissed because prosecutors kept failing to meet court deadlines. Morris’ lawyers say that wasn’t by accident. They believe it was all an attempt to hide what really happened.

The lawsuit says former SLMPD officer Ramelle Wallace repeatedly punched Morris in the face. Morris says the assault left him with a swollen eye, facial bruising, and body injuries. City officials say they can’t speak on the lawsuit since it’s still ongoing.
