Breaking news out of North St. Louis County. Some residents at Northern Village are now being forced to evacuate after portions of the complex were condemned. Just yesterday, we reported on ongoing issues at Northern Village, formerly known as Lucas Hunt Village, where residents said they were living without working heat and water. This is the double-edged reality of exposing hazardous living conditions. While accountability is necessary, once a building is condemned, residents are often given very little time to relocate, leaving families scrambling for safe alternatives.

For women with or without children who may now be in need of temporary housing and support, resources are available. Sevynn Layers of Love Inc., a nonprofit shelter located in the City of St. Ann, is offering assistance. The organization provides room space, meal service, complimentary personal care bags upon arrival, and access to an on-staff social worker who visits weekly. Sevynn Layers of Love is partnered with United Way and is listed through the 2-1-1 resource network. The organization is owned and operated by Veronica and is currently assisting women and families as they work toward long-term housing solutions.
