ALTON MAN CHARGED AFTER THREATENING TO BLOW UP SCHNUCKS DURING A ROBBERY🤦🏽‍♀️

A 30-year-old Kareem J. Hamilton is facing multiple felony charges after a robbery at a Madison County Schnucks turned into a dangerous confrontation.

According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Hamilton entered the Schnucks on Godfrey Road around 7 p.m. on Monday and demanded money from the register. Authorities say he claimed he had an explosive device and threatened to detonate it if employees did not comply.

Investigators say that after making the threat, Hamilton became physically aggressive toward an employee and a customer. During the confrontation, he allegedly began counting down as if preparing to set off the explosive.

Hamilton was given money and fled in a truck, authorities said. Shortly after, deputies located the vehicle near Bozza Street and Washington Avenue. Hamilton attempted to run but was taken into custody.

Detectives reported finding evidence inside the truck linking him to the robbery, though no explosives were discovered.

Hamilton is now charged with making a terrorist threat, aggravated robbery, and aggravated battery.
