A 1-year-old baby boy has died after police opened fire on a vehicle outside of a Walmart in Senatobia, Mississippi during an incident involving the child’s mother.

According to reports, the child’s mother was initially accused of shoplifting diapers. Family members, however, say the diapers had already been paid for before officers confronted them in the parking lot.
Authorities claim officers encountered two adults and the child as they were leaving the store and getting into a vehicle. Police stated the driver allegedly drove toward officers, leading an officer to fire multiple shots into the vehicle.
The child, identified by family members as Kohen Wiley, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he later died. A woman inside the vehicle was also critically injured. According to family the receipt was in the vehicle 💔
Family are now demanding answers and questioning why deadly force was used during what they say began over diapers. The officer involved has reportedly been placed on administrative leave while the investigation remains ongoing.
On behalf of The New Real STL News, we would like to send our prayers and condolences to the child’s family and loved ones during this time.
