Authorities responded to the 200 block of Missouri Avenue in East St. Louis, Illinois, after reports that an off-duty police officer had shot himself.
The officer has been identified as Rayvion Smith, a member of the East St. Louis Police Department. Emergency personnel arrived at the scene, and officials say the incident remains under investigation. At this time, no additional details about the circumstances surrounding the situation have been released.
