WOMAN BEHIND BARS AFTER SHE HELPED CARJACK A LYFT DRIVER AT GUNPOINT

An 18-year-old Bellefontaine Neighbors woman is now behind bars after police say she took part in the armed carjacking of a Lyft driver earlier this week.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the incident happened Monday, March 9 near Riverview Boulevard and West Florissant Avenue.

Investigators say Selena P. Lutz and a juvenile companion had booked a Lyft ride. When the driver arrived, the juvenile reportedly sat in the front passenger seat while Lutz got in the back. Once the ride ended, police say the juvenile pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the driver.

The driver ran from the vehicle on foot. Police say Lutz then climbed from the back seat into the driver’s seat while the juvenile briefly chased the victim before returning to the car.

The two then drove away in the stolen vehicle.

Officers located the vehicle within an hour, and both Lutz and the juvenile were still inside when they were taken into custody.

Lutz is now facing first-degree robbery and armed criminal action charges and is currently being held without bond. The juvenile’s identity has not been released, and it is unclear if charges will be filed in juvenile court.
