WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER SHOOTING AT EMPLOYEE INSIDE A RESTAURANT IN KIRKWOOD

Aaliyah Moorehead is now facing serious charges after police say she fired a gun inside a Kirkwood restaurant during a confrontation with an employee.

According to St. Louis County prosecutors, Moorehead has been charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, first-degree property damage, and endangering the welfare of a child. She is currently being held at the St. Louis County Justice Center on a $150,000 cash-only bond with no 10 percent option.

Court documents state the incident happened Wednesday at a restaurant in the 300 block of South Kirkwood Road. Investigators say Moorehead was at the restaurant with her 9-year-old daughter and her pregnant sister when an issue arose over how her sister’s food was prepared. Police say Moorehead became upset, staff asked her to leave, and she refused.

The situation escalated quickly, Moorehead threw food and then a chair at an employee. Police say she then pulled out a gun, made a verbal threat toward the worker, and fired a shot. At the time the gun was fired, Moorehead’s daughter was reportedly walking between her and the employee.

No one was hit by the gunfire, but investigators say the bullet struck a refrigerator and damaged a wall inside the restaurant.

Moorehead was later stopped by police about a mile away from the scene. Authorities say the entire incident was captured on surveillance video, and Moorehead admitted to firing the weapon.

This case remains in the court system as prosecutors move forward.
