Ferguson police are investigating a deadly shooting that unfolded Friday morning near West Florissant Avenue and Canfield Drive, ending with a vehicle crashing into a home. Officers responded around 10:15 a.m. and found the driver suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite lifesaving efforts, the man was later pronounced dead at the hospital. He has been identified as Edward Johnson Jr. of Castle Point.
Police confirmed a child was inside the vehicle at the time of the crash and was not injured. Investigators moved quickly, canvassing the area for witnesses and video, which led them to a nearby apartment complex where several persons of interest were taken into custody. The investigation is still in its early stages, and anyone with information is urged to contact Ferguson Police.
