On Wednesday, January 12, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Kyonee Wade, 24, with Murder 1st Degree, Assault 1st Degree and two counts of Armed Criminal Action.
According to a probable cause statement signed by a Berkeley Police Department detective, on January 9 Berkeley Police responded to a call about a shooting at Frostview Lane and Jacklin Avenue in Berkeley. A witness directed them to the victim, Sharvon Gunn, who had been fatally shot on the 6800 block of Frostview Lane.
According to the probable cause statement, the witness told police that she had recently ended a four-year romantic relationship with the victim. That night, the witness and the defendant had attended a social event together. After the event, the witness was driving the defendant towards his home when they encountered the victim in his vehicle, and the victim began to follow them. After the witness dropped off the defendant, the victim continued to follow her.
According to the probable cause statement, after coming to a stop at Frostview Lane and Jacklin Avenue, the witness and the victim began arguing at her driver side window. During the argument, the witness heard gunshots and took cover before driving away. She called the defendant, who said he had shot the victim for fighting with her in the street. She went back to the scene of the shooting and found the victim lying dead. Police found bullet holes in the rear of victim’s and witness’ cars and shell casings in the street.
Wade is in custody and is being held without bail.
