FEDERAL JUDGES RULE SNAP BENEFITS MUST CONTINUE DESPITE SHUTDOWN

Two federal judges handed down rulings nearly simultaneously on Friday, ordering that the Trump administration must continue funding the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) during the ongoing government shutdown. SNAP is the nation’s largest food assistance program, supporting millions of low-income families across the country.

The judges directed the administration to use emergency contingency funds to keep aid flowing, stressing that access to food is a critical need that should not be interrupted due to political gridlock.
