Here’s something most people in the city don’t know. In Calvary Cemetery, there’s a quiet section called the Garden of Innocents. It’s a resting place for children who died and were discovered without ever being identified💔. No names. No family to claim them or even names. Just dates, mystery, and silence.

One of the most chilling stories tied to this space is the case of Little Jane Doe. In 1983, a young Black girl, believed to be between 8 and 11 years old, was found murdered in the basement of an abandoned building on 5800 block Clemens Avenue. Her hands were tied. Her head was never found. To this day, her killer has not been caught and nobody knows her name.

They buried her in the Garden of Innocents, where she rests among other children whose names were never spoken again. Some say her spirit still lingers, waiting to be seen, waiting to be known. When you drive past Calvary Cemetery, remember this story. Some souls don’t sleep easy when the truth is still buried with them.
