According to officials, Damonte J. Walton is charged with organized retail theft after investigators say he allegedly stole more than $10,000 worth of meat, candy, and other items from multiple Sam’s Club locations across the St. Louis area.
Authorities say the thefts took place at Sam’s Club stores in Crestwood and Maplewood. Investigators allege Walton would load carts with expensive cuts of meat including lamb and beef tenderloin along with bulk candy before leaving the store and heading to a getaway vehicle.
Police also say investigators linked him to several thefts through surveillance footage, clothing descriptions, tattoos, vehicles, and facial recognition technology.
Walton is currently being held on a $200,000 cash-only bond.
Now listen… groceries high and meat prices definitely ain’t cheap, but allegedly walking off with over $10,000 worth of steaks and candy is wild work 😭
