40-year-old Lindsey Smith, a mother from Potosi, Missouri, was found shot in the head and discarded in a yard in the 3800 block of Cook Avenue during freezing temperatures. Her body was discovered after she had been reported missing by her family, who became concerned when they didn’t hear from her during the holidays.

Authorities arrested 54-year-old Ephron Long. The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office has charged him with Murder in the First Degree, Armed Criminal Action, and Resisting Arrest in connection to her death.

Lindsey wasn’t just another name in a headline she was a loving mother, a daughter, and a woman who made those around her feel seen and loved. Her family shared how they knew something was terribly wrong when Christmas came and went without a word from her.
Now, those closest to her are left grieving a senseless tragedy. We’re keeping her children, family, and friends uplifted in prayer during this devastating time.
