Traffic was diverted in both directions this morning on Interstate 70 at Jennings Station Road following a large salt spill and a pair of crashes.
According to reports, a tractor-trailer spilled a large quantity of road salt onto the interstate shortly before 7 a.m. The truck had been involved in a crash and pulled over against the median in the left lane of eastbound I-70 just past the Jennings Station Road exit. The tractor-trailer was believed to be carrying tens of thousands of pounds of salt.

Debris from the cargo container and a significant amount of salt spilled into the westbound lanes. The salt reportedly spread across approximately 100 yards of the interstate. A second crash occurred in the westbound lanes and involved two vehicles.
