The facility once branded as Homer G. Phillips Memorial Hospital on North Jefferson has been rebranded as Archview ER and Hospital and is now under new management. Hospital officials are promising “concierge-level community care” for Carr Square and surrounding neighborhoods, offering 24/7 emergency, inpatient, and outpatient services.

But let’s not forget this site originally opened under Paul McKee’s Northside Regeneration project, carrying the name of a historic Black hospital with zero connection to its legacy. Former nurses even sued to stop the name from being used, but lost. It had just three inpatient beds and never fully delivered what the community was promised.

Now under Nutex Health, people are hoping for a better outcome. But the community hasn’t forgotten the damage done under McKee’s vision. We’ll be watching closely.
