We’re sad to share that 9-year-old Paige Buckner has passed away after being found shot inside a burning home in the Walnut Park West neighborhood. Her mother, 45-year-old LaTasha Brown, was also inside the home and is still fighting to survive.
As we send up prayers for LaTasha, we recognize that nothing can prepare a mother to lose her baby. Paige was full of life, and now her absence leaves a void that can’t be filled.
Many in the community will remember LaTasha not just as a mother, but as someone who stood on business. She was one of the tenants that lived in Canfield Apartments in Ferguson who spoke out about the poor living conditions and demanded better for her neighbors. She didn’t just talk about it she put herself on the front line for change.
We ask that everyone keep LaTasha in your prayers as she continues to fight. And let’s honor Paige’s memory by remembering the love and strength of the woman who raised her.
