What started as a Wednesday morning encounter with ICE agents in Minneapolis ended in tragedy. 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, originally from Kansas City, Missouri, was fatally shot by ICE agents in front of her wife, according to witnesses at the scene.
The incident took place in a residential neighborhood near downtown Minneapolis, not far from where George Floyd was murdered in 2020. The area is known for its diverse immigrant communities.
Her vehicle was registered to a Kansas City address. Renee, a mother of three children under the age of 18, had previously lived in Kansas City before relocating to Minneapolis.
Since news of the shooting broke, Minnesota officials have released public statements and the Mayor is calling for ICE to leave the city.
