GOOD OLD-FASHIONED WHOOPIN’ LANDS ST. ANN WOMAN IN JAIL ON FELONY CHILD ABUSE CHARGES

What some might call “discipline” has now landed a St. Ann woman behind bars and this time, it’s not just a family matter, it’s a felony.

Lisa Layton, a St. Louis County resident, is facing two felony counts of child abuse or neglect after allegedly beating two boys ages 11 and 12 with a silicone spatula.

The abuse came to light on December 17, when one of the children told Maryland Heights police what had been going on. Officers say the child had visible bruises that lined up with his story. Shortly after, another child confirmed he’d been hit the same way.

Court documents show that Layton admitted during questioning that she struck both children. She’s now being held on a $750,000 cash-only bond no 10% allowed and it doesn’t stop there.

According to the arrest warrant, Layton is also under investigation in a separate case involving the starvation death of a 9-month-old baby.
