A 40-year-old Missouri man lost his life Thursday evening after a deer was struck by another vehicle and sent flying into his windshield.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 5:45 p.m. on U.S. Highway 40 near Shady Hills in Boone County.
Investigators say a Chevrolet Equinox traveling eastbound struck a deer, sending the animal airborne into the westbound lanes, where it crashed through the windshield of a Jeep Renegade.
The impact caused the Jeep to leave the roadway and strike several trees before coming to a stop.
The 40-year-old driver, who was from Glasgow, Missouri, was pronounced dead at the scene.
