42-year-old Ashley Stenson, originally from St. Louis, has been identified by the Peoria Police Department after she was shot and killed in a domestic violence situation.
According to loved ones, Ashley was attempting to escape her estranged partner when he shot and killed her before later getting into a gunfight with responding police officers. Authorities say officers returned fire during the exchange.
Family and friends are now left trying to pick up the pieces after such a heartbreaking loss. Ashley leaves behind beautiful children who now have to grow up without their mother.
