A 20-year-old Jada Bell is now facing multiple serious charges after a deadly shooting at a Steak ’n Shake in north St. Louis County.
According to prosecutors, Bell has been charged with first-degree murder, three counts of armed criminal action, first-degree assault, and unlawful use of a weapon. She is currently being held on a $1 million cash-only bond.
Authorities say the incident happened on April 8, 2026, at the Steak ’n Shake located in the 11000 block of Bellefontaine Road. Investigators say Bell pulled up to the drive-thru in a white SUV and got into a dispute with employees over her order.
During that exchange, Bell allegedly threw a drink at an employee. The situation quickly escalated, and drinks were thrown back and forth before police say Bell pulled out a handgun and fired multiple rounds into the restaurant.
One of the employees, identified as 32-year-old Chauncia Meekins, was struck multiple times and died from her injuries. Another worker inside the restaurant was also shot and injured.
