Now this right here is something nobody expected. Police say fentanyl was discovered inside the packaging of Barbie dolls sold at a discount store in Independence, Missouri.
According to investigators, store employees noticed a suspicious powder inside the packaging and contacted police. After testing, that substance came back as fentanyl. Authorities say a total of five contaminated Barbie packages were sold, but all of them have since been tracked down and recovered.
Officials also made it clear that the dolls themselves were not contaminated, only the packaging. No injuries have been reported, and police say there is no indication that any other stores received these items. The investigation is still ongoing.
