Authorities have identified the woman found deceased inside an apartment after being left there for weeks as 47-year-old Lawanda McGhee.
According to investigators, McGhee was discovered lying on a couch, covered with clothing and blankets. Officials say her body had been in the apartment for more than a month before it was found. Her roommate, Terrence Smith, has been charged with abandonment of a corpse and is being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
Family members say concerns grew after McGhee suddenly stopped communicating. Her last known activity on social media was December 15, which raised alarm among loved ones who realized something was wrong. McGhee leaves behind a 13-year-old daughter, along with family and friends who are now left searching for answers.
