David Steward, who founded World Wide Technology, which is now one of the biggest companies in St. Louis, wrote a $735,000 check to contribute to a Republican party’s campaign.

Steward’s company brings in over $9 billion a year. Big corporations are known to back republicans due to tax breaks and so forth.

Steward has been very focused on political issues lately and placing money behind certain issues that address sexual misconduct at universities. He’s donated over $1 million to UMSL to create the David and Thelma Steward Institute for Jazz Studies.

Many feel like if we follow the money, the inner city of St. Louis will realize why no change has come.
