Following an incident that could’ve easily turned deadly if police hadn’t stepped in, Denny Mosley is now in custody after being accused of violently assaulting his girlfriend, chasing her down, and forcing her into the trunk of a car.
It happened early Monday morning in north St. Louis County. Around 2:15 a.m., a terrified woman called 911 from inside the trunk of a vehicle parked near the 8800 block of Torii Drive. She told officers she had just been attacked by her boyfriend.
According to a probable cause statement, the couple had been arguing while driving along I‑170 when Mosley allegedly punched her in the face giving her a black eye and a large knot on her forehead. She begged to be let out. When he refused, she jumped out of the moving car and tried to escape on foot but he chased her down.
Police say Mosley caught up to her, dragged her back to the car, and shoved her into the trunk before driving off. A witness who saw it unfold called 911, and surveillance footage later confirmed the attack. The vehicle was eventually tracked down near Brittany Circle and Natural Bridge Road by a Bridgeton Police officer.
Mosley was taken into custody and now faces multiple serious charges. The victim was hospitalized and treated for her injuries. He was charged and convicted of murder prior and released on parole.
This story is more than just another headline. It’s a painful example of how abuse shows up as loud, violent, and sometimes in silence. Physical abuse is just one form. Emotional, verbal, financial, and psychological abuse are real too. If you or someone you love is experiencing abuse in any form, speak up. Get help. Your life matters.
