Authorities are still investigating themselves after a St. Louis county police officer struck a 12-year-old girl near Halls Ferry Road and Hornsby Monday evening.

Police say that the officer came across a suspicious vehicle and when he ran the plates to the car, he found that they allegedly did not match the car. Authorities say that the officer attempted to stop the car but the driver fled. The officer then pursued but did not turn on his emergency lights or sirens(something THATS done often yet they hide it.)

Investigators say that the girl ran into the street at the police officer was pursuing and that’s when she was struck. Others in the area say she was already walking across the street and attempted to run out of the way when she saw the oncoming vehicles.

The teen was rushed to a nearby hospital with very serious injuries. She is listed in critical and unstable condition.

The accident reconstruction team was called to the scene to help with the investigation.
