Wesley Bell, Ferguson Councilman, has officially announced, as of Tuesday, that he will be running for St. Louis County Prosecutor. The current St. Louis County prosecutor Bob McColloch is expected to be Bell’s opponent in the race for the democratic nomination. Bell was elected in April of 2015 to the Ferguson City Council.
Bell has worked with the Department of Justice and states that he intends to focus on community policing and reform of the court system. Bell states that he is running for county prosecutor “for a better St. Louis” and states that he believes that “Community Prosecution is the next crucial step to reduce crime.”
Bell has been a judge and public defender and is currently a prosecutor in the municipal courts. Overall Bell has over 20 years combined experience in criminal justice.
