After a high speed chase in north St. Louis Saturday evening, one person is deceased and one person is injured.

According to a close source, mobile reserve was chasing a Dodge Charger after attempting to stop the passenger on foot before he entered the vehicle.

Police tried to stop the man because they thought he had a weapon in his pouch that was hanging around his shoulder. The officers had no warrant or real reason to stop the man so he continued to get in the vehicle that was waiting for him.

The officers approached the vehicle and asked the man to show his hands, he allegedly refused and the driver drove off.

The officers immediately went after the car, even called for a tire deflation device to be placed down. Once the tires hit the device, they deflated causing the car to lose its traction. After about a minute, the Charger spun out of control and crashed into a tree.

Unfortunately the driver of the Charger was pronounced dead on the scene. The two passengers, a 26-year-old man and a 13-year-old boy, were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say they found a semi-automatic handgun with an extended magazine in the vehicle.

The investigation is still ongoing at this time.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the deceased
